Used Engine Identity and Included Equipment

Compare a used engine using its serial identity, condition records, installation and written list of included equipment.

BUYER CHECKLIST · UPDATED 6 NOVEMBER 2026

Identify the actual engine

Perkins explains that engine serial information identifies configuration and parts. Request the complete plate photograph, model and serial reference of the actual offered engine.

Request current condition evidence

Ask for dated photographs, the seller condition statement and available running or inspection records. Separate documented operating history from an hour display.

List included equipment

Mark the ECU, wiring, starter, alternator, turbo, fuel equipment, flywheel housing, sump and mounts as included, excluded or to be confirmed. A photographed accessory should also appear in the written offer.

Compare the installation

Record power and speed, application, mounts, housing, sump and electrical arrangement. Keep the offered serial number, inspection requirements, loading and destination together in the quotation.

Send the identification and enquiry details to SEP

Technical references
